Small Space Transformed

A complete rebuild of an inner city townhouse, allowed for a complete redesign of the interior spaces to suite the clients needs. A powder room with a shower was required and even though the space was small, a very good outcome was achieved. By using good design, quality cabinet work and high end finishes the Powder Room is a great success within the overall scheme.

Parisian Inspired Townhouse

As more and more people downsize in our communities, we find that clients are requested smaller living spaces but with highly detailed interiors. There is a vast variety of interior styles, anything is possible. In this project the clients were great lovers of French living, especially the chic style of Parisian Townhouses. Luxury, understated elegance and timeless beauty, typify this style of interior. With a blank canvas we created an interior to the clients specification and created a livable environment that can be enjoyed at all times.

Kitchen Design and Installation

A Kitchen is the heart of the home, as the saying goes, and we must say we have to agree. This Kitchen was designed for clients with a Queensland colonial home and is very much the center of the house. The designed needed to work in the existing L shaded space, be compact with plentiful storage space, as well as being highly aesthetically detailed. Most important was that this would be a functional space that worked for busy occasions. The kitchen opens onto wide outdoor entertaining areas and onto an open plan dining room. The outcome is a resounding success.

Guest Bedroom

The brief was to create a Guest Bedroom that is self contained, where visiting guests can feel part of the family home and at the same time enjoy having their own private space. Comfortable, elegant and warm, are the words best used to describe this bedroom where guests truly enjoy staying

Classical Interiors

Classical Interiors these days can get a bad wrap at times, usually by those who have a limited understanding of interior design, or who are driven by the latest fashion trends, whatever that may be.

But as with many aspects of design in general, be it fashion design, food, architecture, the visual arts and so on. There are always changes and evolution which is called a ‘fashionable trend’ of the period. This is a good thing, nothing will and should stay the same forever. What a boring world it would be if that was the case.

But beyond what is the fashion of the day, there will always be a foundation in design which is termed ‘classical’. The classical interior is not old fashioned or out of fashion, it is simple good design that is not influenced by a trend of the moment.

Classical deign is timeless, comfortable and quality which will outlast any fashionable influence of the day. It is not to take away from contemporary interiors of the now, but it is also not to be something that ever should be labeled ‘old fashioned’ in the now or in the future.

Interiors After Renovation

image001.jpg

Whether a new build or a major renovation of an existing home, once the building has stopped we are still left with a very blank canvass. Interiors need ‘finishing’, to create a space in which to dwell in comfort. Otherwise we are left with nothing more than a very empty space, which happens way too often.

This vignette is of an entry in of home that underwent a massive renovation and rebuild, resulting in beautiful architectural details. But as striking as the architectural interiors were, only after the selected furniture and objects d’art were strategically placed, did this house truly become a home.

On The Shores Of Moreton Bay

Working from the very beginning of a project is very rewarding as a designer, as you are part of a creative process that starts with creative ideas and finishes with the completion of a family home. This home overlooking the waters of Moreton Bay in Queensland is an example of such a process.

The clients desire was for a home that was greatly influenced by architecture on the East Coast of the United States. Comfortable, open light filled interiors, with an approachable formality was the brief.

The clients love their home, and it is also enjoyed by their adult children. It will be perfect for the future generations of this family to come.

Who Said Laundries Had To Be Boring

Laundries are a room within the home that are often overlooked and neglected in terms of design aesthetic. So why not take a different approach ? Why should any room in a home be overlooked, why not make even a laundry a ‘statement room’ ? Selection of finishes and choices of colour achieved this exact result on a recent project. Black Subway tiles, dark stone benches and black gloss stylish timber cabinet work have created a room, that many mistake at first for a bathroom. The large ceramic butlers sink is a great choice over a standard laundry tub. It functions perfectly as a laundry, but is still looks very impressive. .

Both these Bathrooms are form the same residential project. The entire spaces were completely stripped back to bare foundations and completely resigned and then rebuilt. Elegant, clean lines, the use of good design and using quality finishes, have created two beautiful light filled bathrooms. Timeless design never dates, these bathrooms are a perfect example of this.
