An already existing outdoor covered space of a home in inner city Brisbane, was in need of some additions that would make it a totally self contained area for entertaining and outdoor living. The entire rear of the home has bi-fold doors that allow total access from the interior of the home to the exterior space. The side veranda balustrades were removed and closed in, to accommodate the new stylish built in BBQ unit. Oh, how the humble BBQ has evolved from the days of being set somewhere in the backyard, to now becoming part of the architecture features of a modern home. This sold custom designed unit has ample storage space, wine refrigeration as well as normal refrigeration. It has ample stainless steal bench space to easily deal with food and drink preparation for small or large numbers of people. Exterior powder coated steel shutters finishes the space, creating privacy, but allow ventilation and light to be controlled at any time.

The views overlooking the city are spectacular, and these alterations and additions, have created a all year round Alfresco space that can be enjoyed anytime of the day or evening, and with Queensland’s perfect weather its a winner all round.

What was once an unusable space beneath a residential property in Brisbane, due to low ceiling height and lack of natural light. Was dramatically transformed by removing the existing ceiling, to create a new vaulted ceiling, as well as removing the existing tiled floor. Both of which created more height within the existing space. New french doors were added with more glass panels to bring in the natural light. Timber flooring and a neutral colour scheme were the perfect finishes and backdrop for the eclectic mix of furnishings. The result is a Family Room that is enjoyed by the people who live here, created from a room that basically was nothing more than storage.

Kitchen Project

A blank canvas to work with. The space was completely stripped of the old kitchen, allowing a new design that would use the interior space efficiently and create a stylish modern kitchen.

The result is a light filled space that can handle the catering for a large number of guests at any given time. Granite bench tops and splashbacks, detailed solid timber cabinet work and top of the range European appliances, all team together to create this immaculate kitchen which now has become the centre of the home.

Elegant Sitting and Dining Room

An Elegant Sitting Room and Dining Room, inspired by Classic American Design, which is no surprise as the clients lived on the Eastern Seaboard of the United States for an extended period. The space was a blank canvas from which to start. Timeless pieces, elegant soft furnishings and attention to detail have created a very comfortable space in which to entertain and relax.

How We Use Our Outdoor Spaces For Entertaining.

bbq.jpg

Outdoor spaces were once used for entertaining in very limited ways. A place to sit, away from the interior space of a home and not much else. Today we are looking at unlimited design possibilities in terms of what is possible to create state of the art outdoor entertaining spaces. The image here from a recent project, and is a good example of taking a space that had spectacular views of Brisbane city, and creating a complete outdoor entertaining area. The space underwent an extensive rebuilt first to deal with water issues. Then after some consultation with the clients, we suggested creating a space not just for outdoor dining, but where total food preparation can take place, creating ease in entertaining or day to day home dining. Running water, refrigeration, commercial exhaust extraction and top of the rage BBQ, teamed with stylish finishes has created the perfect outdoor space that can be enjoyed throughout the year. It has surpassed the clients expectations ten fold, and it is rewarding to have clients that trust your design concept from the start. The only thing is, its the one time it would have been good to have a before shot of the space, because then one can really appreciate the total transformation that has occurred.

A modern, cleaned lined, minimal contemporary interior was the brief from clients who lived in a Colonial Home in Inner City Brisbane. The space had wonderful light, and the walls had the original linseed oil finish, that homes of this era had. Mid 20th Century pieces of furniture were selected, [ Danish Modern ] to furnish the space, and the centre piece being the original Italian Murano Glass light fitting, dating from the early 70's. At night this piece is spectacular when illuminated, and when not, the sculptural quality makes a wonderful focal point within the space.
